Michael Bublé didn’t think he’d come back to music after his son’s cancer battle

By Meaghan Wray

Michael Bublé has a lot to say about love and has since the day he broke into the music world with his first hit single, Home, in 2005. He’s not shy about showing it – especially when it comes to his beautiful family of five, including his wife, Luisana Lopilato , and kids Noah, 5, Elias, 2, and two-month-old Vida. After a two-year hiatus while his eldest son battled cancer, the Canadian crooner is back with a video for his new song “When I Fall In Love,” as well as an upcoming album – but he wasn’t always sure it would happen.

Though the new track and album love (set to release on Nov. 16) call the mind the Michael fans have loved for more than a decade, his life changed drastically when Noah was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. Michael and actress Luisana put their busy careers on hold to tend to their son, who has since recovered. It really put into perspective what’s important in life, Michael said in a statement. “I didn’t anticipate returning to recording or performing and I was fine with that. My entire worldview has changed completely these last few years. I wanted to spend all my time with my wife and kids. That was my focus.”

The father of three was overwhelmed with the love and support he received from his adoring fans – so much so, that he just had to express it. “During that time, I also learned how much love and humanity is out in the world from the prayers and good wishes we received. But slowly, along with understanding what my priorities in life are, I began to feel a new commitment to express the emotions and lessons I’ve embraced.”

He added: “I have had so many blessings in my life and one of them is that I hold the torch to keep these songs alive for generations to come. I take the responsibility very seriously. My end game for the new record was to create a series of short cinematic stories for each song I chose and have it stand on its own. I’m so proud of what we accomplished.” It’s plain to see why he has such a huge fanbase. Michael doesn’t just sing about love – he lives it!
