Talk of TIFF: Emma Stone hops the tracks, Reese Witherspoon's shopping outing and more

By Sarah Walker

The Toronto International Film Festival hosted some highly anticipated red-carpet premieres on Monday night, but most eyes were on the many fêtes honouring A-listers around the city. Here's who we spotted. (And be sure to check out our map to the stars each TIFF morning!)

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone proved that they're one of Hollywood's favourite non-couple couples at the Canadian debut of their musical La La Land. Emma sprinted across streetcar tracks to sign autographs for fans with her co-star and the pair posed for photos with co-star John Legend. After the screening, the cast swung by a private event hosted by Hugo Boss at Lavelle, where cocktails were flowing and they mingled with a sartorially smart crowd at reserved tables.

Richard Gere hit the red carpet for the film Norman, looking dashing after a day partially spent hanging out at at Cibo Wine Bar.

Amy Adams walked a red carpet for the second time at TIFF (her first being at the splashy premiere of Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals). The film, titled Arrival, co-stars Jeremy Renner and was filmed in Quebec. But it was Amy's eight-year-old co-star Abigail Pniowsky who stole the show on the carpet...and at the after-party at Storys, where she had a ball with Jeremy.

Also at Storys, Toronto Life spotted Miles Teller engaged in some PDA with his girlfriend, Keleigh Sperry, at the Bleed For This party.

Plus...

If you want to dine at Brassaii, order like the celebs who've attended The Hollywood Reporter lounge! Richard Gere got a special caprese salad, while Sigourney Weaver was all about the vegan soup and Natalie Portman called ahead and asked for a Mediterranean vegan plate. The cast of Hidden Figures sang "Happy Birthday" to Taraji P. Henson while the restaurant presented her with a dessert platter (a banana cream tart, a lemon meringue tart and a white chocolate/dark chocolate brownie).

It was all bling and bubbles at Momofuku for this year's honourees of the Telefilm Canada and Birks Diamond Tribute to the Year's Women in Film. The swanky cocktail party honoured actors, directors and screenwriters, including Sandra Oh and Emma Donnaghue.

Reese Witherspoon appears to have gone shopping at The Room at Hudson's Bay, where she reportedly picked up some designer duds by Pucci and Max Mara.

I love Toronto!!  Great festival, great fans, great shopping! #TIFF16 @hudsonsbay

Kit Harrington, Jason Sudeikis, Olivia Wilde and Nina Dobrev swung by Brassaii for the Building a Legacy in Acting, Cinema & Knowledge event.

A star-studded cast of characters walked the red carpet of the Entertainment One (eOne) bash, including Patrick J Adams, Atom Egoyan, Eddie Cahill, Laura Vandervoort and Emily Hampshire.
