The holiday season is one of the biggest times each year for people to make charitable donations or volunteer, as the emphasis is heavily put on giving back and helping those who are less fortunate. The Royal Family is full of people with huge hearts and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have unveiled 12 causes they’re encouraging fans to support this December... just in time, too, since Dec. 3 is Giving Tuesday!
Every month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revamp their Instagram, following new accounts to highlight causes that are most important to them. They’ve chosen a “12 Days of Christmas” theme for December and picked 12 groups doing amazing work that they want royal watchers to get involved with.
“It’s an important time of year to help those around you who may be less fortunate, or who would appreciate even the smallest act of kindness,” the big-hearted new parents wrote.
“There are, thankfully, so many organisations around the world doing good on global and grassroots levels, many of which are not on Instagram.”

With the festive holiday season upon us, it’s also a reminder to reflect on those in need – those who may feel lonely, hungry, homeless, or may be experiencing the holidays for the first time without loved ones. It’s an important time of year to help those around you who may be less fortunate, or who would appreciate even the smallest act of kindness. Continuing our monthly tradition of highlighting accounts that do good, and inspired by the “Twelve Days of Christmas” - we have selected twelve organisations caring for those in need - especially at this time of year. There are, thankfully, so many organisations around the world doing good on global and grassroots levels, many of which are not on Instagram. Check out the accounts we have chosen and please share those in your own communities that are making a difference. We would love to hear about the ones that inspire you - so please tell us and add your country’s flag! Images used are from the accounts we are now following.
The couple also encouraged their followers to suggest groups that inspire them and also asked fans to include an emoji that corresponded to their home country, so they could see organizations worldwide doing good work – and also probably to see where their millions of followers are from!
The causes Meghan and Harry chose are a mixture of American charities and British ones, paying tribute to both of their roots. Centrepoint, an organization that helps the homeless and was one of Princess Diana’s favourite causes, is included, as is the Los Angeles Mission, which works with homeless and underhoused people in Los Angeles, Meghan’s hometown.
Salvation Army UK, military family support organization Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the Trussell Trust foodbank are also among the groups they chose to highlight.
Meghan and Harry are currently on a six-week extended break from royal duties. They’re also set to spend this Christmas with Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, who we’re sure will be thrilled to see her grandson Archie over the holidays. It’s unclear whether Doria will be joining the Sussexes at their home of Frogmore Cottage or whether they’ll be in the United States for Christmas, but we’re sure they’ll have an amazing time. The Queen supports their plans, which aren’t unusual – Prince William and Duchess Kate have spent family Christmas with the Middletons on occasion.
