Nicole Kidman is a woman who wears many hats – she’s mother to four kids, a relentlessly supportive wife to Keith Urban and, of course, an award-winning actress. Despite not slowing down one bit in her career, it’s certain her family keeps her grounded. “[It’s] extremely simple with what we want from each other and what we want from a relationship. Just peas in a pod in that regard,” Nicole gushed about her husband.
Vanity Fair’s May cover girl told the publication she loves being a “tour wife,” adding she can memorize her country crooning beau's tour schedule and dates with ease. “I love that Keith is a guitar player and a singer, but his passion is guitar and writing music. That’s what I’m around every day,” the Boy Erased leading lady said of her husband’s talent.
When Nicole and Keith aren’t getting loved up on the red carpet or cheering for each other’s respective industry wins, they’re at home with their daughters Sunday, 10, and eight-year-old Faith. “They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram,” she said about their parenting strategy. “I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”
The 51-year-old also has adult children with ex-husband Tom Cruise. But she’s also had the enjoyment of having two on-set daughters in Zoë Kravitz and Shailene Woodley, her Big Little Lies co-stars. “To watch [them] grow up and to see them become women … it’s so nice, and I’ve never had that,” she told Vanity Fair. “I know Laura [Dern] and Reese [Witherspoon] feel that, too. We’re all so different, yet we complement each other.” She added that the close castmates are set to attend Zoë’s wedding to actor Karl Glusman.
Fans of the hit TV thriller were over-the-moon to hear celebrated star Meryl Streep would join the cast this year, playing Nicole’s mother-in-law on the show. But she says hanging out with the industry veteran is even sweeter for the cast of five. “Can you imagine that we got to go to dinner with Meryl every week? And hear her stories!? It’s like years and years of actresses being siloed off, and finally they let us intermingle,” the Oscar winner gushed. “You can only imagine the conversations that we had. It was a really amazing experience of sharing our indignities and our triumphs, and just every rainbow of the female experience in our business.”
