Top 10 TIFF films that are generating Oscar buzz

From American Beauty (1997) to 12 Years a Slave (2014), the Toronto International Film Festival is famous for debuting Oscar-winning films – and this year’s TIFF was no exception.

The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, took home the coveted Grolsch People’s Choice Award (TIFF’s top prize) on Sunday, leading many to wonder if it, too, will follow in past victors’ Academy Award-winning footsteps.

People’s Choice winners have a history of cleaning up at the Oscars, with three of the past six winners – The King’s Speech, Slumdog Millionaire and last year’s victor, 12 Years a Slave – going on to win Best Picture.
